Oil Painting

Steve Higton fell in love with painting in oils when he moved to East Anglia in 2008. Since then, his impressionistic, sometimes abstract, always exciting works of the local landscapes have attracted the interest of other artists, gallery owners and lovers of the medium in and around the area. He loves to paint the dramatic skies he sees around him as he feels a good sky always adds to the atmospheric feeling of any painting.

The use of fast-drying oils helps to achieve the rapid painting technique he uses with his minimal brush strokes. Steve will demonstrate and teach the techniques he uses in his work and how he achieves the atmospheric and dramatic landscapes of East Anglia. He
will guide the students through all the stages from plain canvas to a complete painting within the time frame of the 2-day course.
